Olivebranch - LARP Utility.
This project was created to address several problem in the live action role-playing (LARP) community. The current standard software (Grapevine) for creating and managing player character sheets is outdated and not intuitive, requiring updates to be managed by one user.
Problems to address from old software:
• Outdated visuals.
• Interface is not intuitive.
• One user in control of all updates is overwhelming/frustrating.
• Requires printing characters on paper for players to see their sheets.
How this application addressed those issues:
• Updated graphics.
• Simplified step-by-step character creation and management.
• Player submitted changes, requiring approval from admin, rather than admin entering all data.
• Mobile-first design allows players to view and edit character at will.
Issues revealed during user testing:
• Button sizes are too small / hard to accurately select with fingers.
• Some text is too small and hard to read
Solutions for new issues:
• Enlarge buttons and text
This was the general flow of the prototype created in Adobe XD. Thinking through how a player would navigate the application in comparison to how a storyteller would navigate it was something that informed the flow and layout of this application.
